Osage River 0 Zero Degree Sleeping Bag: Budget-Friendly and It Works

This Osage River Zero Degree Sleeping Bag worked well for me when I used it on a night that was 25 degrees out. Would I use it at 0? Probably not, but that’ because I sleep cold and I need a bag that is rated 10-15 degrees lower in order to sleep well. That said, this bag is budget-friendly and I think if you’re looking for a cold weather bag, this might be the one to check out.

  1. this is perfect. iv been looking for a nice small packable bag. although I don’t camp in 0* weather I can always leave it partially open.

  2. IF ITS TRULY LONG ENOUGH, then use the extra length, fold over and fill with duff for a very warm duff sleeping pillow. Extra overhead fleece would be part of your face fleece shemaugh sleeping system, or pull over and enclose (anti-bug) mummy bag.

  3. Hi, I got some questions: Is 0 degrees the extreme-rating, the transition-zone rating or the comfort-zone rating? Are this 0 degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius. Because if it were Fahrenheit, this would mean -17 Celsius and imho there is no way that this bag is made for -17 Celsius comfort-zone. There are many sleeping bags out there that have 0 degrees ratings, but people have to know that the companies are talking about the extreme rating. Extreme rating means, you won’t die but you would survive. It won’t be a good sleep at all! Transition rating means: Here it get’s uncomfortable. Comfort rating means, don’t worry, you will be warm. I’m sure you know this, but I’d like to know to what zone-rating the 0 degrees refer. Cheers, Marc

    1. Well, usually there is a scale on the compression sack or somewhere at the sleeping back itself. Most of the times it shows the three zones: Comfort / Transition / Extreme. What you need to take a look at is the comfort zone. Cheers, Marc

    2. Scouting Free I’ve wondered what the ratings meant for awhile now! How do you find out what it refers to?
