PowerTac E5R Everyday Carry Flashlight: No Downsides To This Light For Me So Far

This light is a winner – the PowerTac E5R has – at this point – no real downsides in my opinion. The light is compact but has up to 1,000 lumens, it’s USB rechargable, it’seasy to operate, and it is nicely textured for extra grip. If you are looking for a mid-sized EDC light, I would definitely check this one out.

  1. I still have not found a flashlight that beats my thrunight. It’s the TN12 2014 model. Max 1080 lumens, strobe is not part of the light cycling, and size is about like this light. The price I paid was $49 on Amazon. Best light for the price.

  2. I hate how they incorporate the SOS “Atactical” or strobe into the regular settings. Holding the side switch should be the only way to access those settings on these kind of flashlights.

  3. the Tactical A1s is literally $70 dollars cheaper and 150 lumens brighter. i unfortunately see no purpose in spending $100 dollars on a flash light whose features i can find in a $20-30 light

  4. with the advent of portable chargers (like dark energy), i guess having a rechargeable flashlight should be the norm for EDC. again, great review Tim. Looking forward to more of your new videos.

  5. No downsides you say? How about the price tag? 100 bucks, no thanks. Too many other better options in that price range.

  6. Sorry, but I cannot see myself spending a hundred dollars on an EDC flashlight, especially when you can get the Atactical A1S for less than a third of the price. Even the Thrunite TC12 V2 is a better value (IMHO), despite the PowerTac E5R still being a good flashlight. I do like that the PowerTac takes a USB Type-C, but I imagine a lot of the other well known flashlight companies will soon pick up on that. Other than that, it’s a little too expensive for my needs.
